Meet the Directors of YPC

Growing up on the Rhino Theatre’s stage, Hayley innately recognized the value of theatre at an early age. Her passion for working onstage and off has continued to develop over the past 16 years. Her favorite roles include: Sally Brown in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Ballet Girl in Freckleface Strawberry, Blue in Blue’s Clues Live, JoJo in Seussical, and Tiger Lily in Peter Pan, to name a few. Through her involvement in theatre, she discovered another love, event planning. In the summer of 2014, she was hired by Manhattan Theatre Club as a Special Events Intern. Her experiences at this premiere Broadway company included working on the Tony Award Viewing Party, MTC’s Annual Spring Gala, opening night parties and patron events. With these skills and an enthusiasm to create amazing events, Hayley took on a lead administrative role to plan and organize Rhino Theatre’s annual gala event. In addition to theatre, Hayley found yet another performing outlet in voiceovers. She completed her voiceover training at Edge Studio in New York City focusing on commercial, animation, and narration, and eventually became an Education Advisor for the company. Since then, she has shared her voiceover talent for many children’s voiceover projects across the country. Combining her love for theatre, event planning, and working with kids, she was inspired to create a performance troupe of young people with a positive message. Her goal is to bring this program to as many people as possible on a national and global level.

It has always been Allyssa’s goal to work with youth at all stages of their lives, bringing to them fun, literacy, and a love of the arts. After majoring in Theatre Arts and minoring in Sociology, she went on to receive her Master of Arts in Teaching for secondary school theatre. Allyssa worked as a teaching artist at a Visual and Performing Arts Academy for 3 school years, before moving on to run a day camp for children in kindergarten through 6th grade. Meanwhile, she had also taught a reading and literacy course for pre-school through adult aged students, sharing her love of reading and learning with her classes throughout northern New Jersey. During all of these endeavors, she was also able to find a home at Rhino Theatre as well as her alma mater high school, and began to design costumes and makeup for such shows as The Wizard of Oz, Cats, Shrek, 9 to 5, Urinetown, and her favorite to date, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. In her never-ending quest to help people and communities, Allyssa decided to work towards her Master of Information with a concentration in Library and Information Science. After receiving her degree, she took a position as an Adult Reference and Teen Services Librarian. With all of this experience creating programming and community outreach, Allyssa hopes to take Youth Performing for Change as far as she can, reaching out to students who have a passion to share, and helping communities and causes to make our world a better place, and maybe even sharing a few books along the way!
